Tropical Tango Green Smoothie takes your taste buds to paradise (similar to the one Vitamin C Surge took you on, right?), even for just 15 minutes while sippin’ on this smoothie.

This is one of my favorite smoothies when I want something bright and refreshing, to help with digestion, or -{men close your eyes and ears}- for that pleasant time of the month ladies. Either way, this is a tasty smoothie for all!

As the great Hippocrates said, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”. I use food as medicine daily, and pineapple is the perfect prescription. Pineapple is not only high in digestive enzyme bromelain (more on this in a previous post) but also high in manganese.

Bromelain not only aids in the digestion of amino acids (a.k.a. proteins), but also may help relax uterine muscles which helps shed the uterine lining (the science behind the efficacy of this is lacking, but some studies have shown benefits of bromelain and it’s potential of penetrating the uterine wall).

Manganese also plays an important role in amino acid, cholesterol, and carbohydrate metabolism in the body. Also, studies have shown that a diet rich in manganese, as I mentioned earlier, can help women during their menstrual cycle by preventing and treating PMS symptoms such as cramping and mood swings, especially when consumed with foods high in calcium (i.e. The Stripped Smoothie!), perfect combination right?

Do you enjoy tropical flavors like mangos and pineapples? Share below your favorite way to eat these delicious and summer tasting fruits!
